I recieved this postcard this morning all the way from Nenes in Indonesia! It shows Borbudur in central Java, near Yogyakarta, and is the worlds largest Buddhist monument. It has inspired me to start collecting Buddhist postcards! Thank you Nenes and good luck with the exams.

I recieved this postcard in my letter from Valériane today. I love it I really do, I had commented to her in her last letter how much I liked the illustrations on her paper so she sent me this postcard by Jean-Baptiste Monge. Being a rattie person I know that look on the mouses face very well and there is something very mischevious on the face of the gnome, wonderful. Thank you Valériane and congratulations on your new baby boy Isaac!

I recieved another Japanese postcrossing postcard through my letterbox this morning from Michiko in Hiroshima, with a picture on of the UNESCO world heritage site: Genbaku Dome – here is a little about it.

“Hiroshima Peace Memorial, commonly called the Atomic Bomb Dome or A-Bomb Dome (Japanese: 原爆ドーム Genbaku Dome), in Hiroshima, Japan, is part of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996. The building serves as a memorial to the people who died in the atomic bombing of Hiroshima.

Having slightly missed the original target (the distinctive “T”-shaped Aioi Bridge), at 8:15 on August 6, 1945 the first nuclear bomb to be used against mankind detonated almost directly above the dome (the actual center of the blast was 490 feet (150 m) away and 1,968 feet (600 m) above ground).

The Genbaku Dome was originally scheduled to be demolished with the rest of the ruins, but the fact that it was mostly intact delayed these plans. As Hiroshima was rebuilt around the dome, it became a subject of controversy; some locals wanted it torn down, while others wanted to preserve it as a memorial of the bombing”

I recieved this pretty poscard in the mail this morning all the way from Satomi in Japan, it shows Mount Daisetsu in Hokkaido. I really like it, and reminds me of my postcard from Colorado I recieved way back in 2007. It’s a small world

Wheee! I have recently started using my postcrossing account and today I recieved my very first random postcard back from Lucy in Ireland with this very traditional symbol on it. A good start don’t you think?

Yep, a real life Waterloo Sunset! This stunning sunset was sent to me by Shivanee who lives in Trinidad and Tobago, in the West Indies. It shows a Hindu temple built out in the sea with a stone walkway leading out to it and I think it’s just beautiful :p

This wonderful night time cityscape comes all the way from Julie in Canada. My very first Canadian postcard paves the way for me collecting a postcard from every province.

She picked me up this postcard from Montana on her trip there last monnth, thats another state off the list, thanks Candice These are the Beartooth mountains, they have been uplifted and eroded and covered with Glaciers, the two shown are the Pilot and Index peaks.

While clearing out some cupboard this week I stumbled on another rogue postcard, not actually stamped and posted but an extra one I picked up on my trip to England in April.
